Serving as the home for Starfleet Academy's first class of cadets in over 100 years, the USS Athena's design is both elegant and incredibly futuristic. Its unique dual-saucer primary hull can separate from its sweeping nacelles to land in San Francisco bay. The academy-class vessel also features a large atrium just above the deflector dish where instructors and cadets gather.


This detailed model made for LEGO bricks was created to the exact specs of the real thing. It accurately captures the Athena's curved saucer with gold accents, elongated "floating" nacelles, and angular secondary hull.

​DESIGNER NOTE: This is the first Starfleet vessel to use a SNOT technique for the saucer that's common with other MOCs, but it was necessary to achieve the "cutout" look. I was also excited to use the Metallic Gold tiles for essential accents on the hull. Achieving the "floating" nacelle effect created some structural weaknesses, but the finished model is highly accurate to the real ship.
